FLIPPED CLASSROOM: WHAT IS IT AND HOW TO USE IT

Hello everyone, how are you doing? Your learning and teaching blogger İlayda is hereeee!!! As you can see in the title I will be talking about flipped classroom in this post. So what is a flipped classroom. Actually it can be understood from its name. You flip your class :) You create a video which you explain a certain grammatical rule or vocabulary and want your students to watch it before the class. When they come to class you make activities about the lesson you covered in the video. This method seems strange in the beginning but it is beneficial from many aspects. Students are free about when, where, how they watch the video; and there are plenty of time to practice it in the class. For my assignment, me and my friends Eylül and Meryem created a flipped lesson. After deciding our topic, we created a presentation using Canva. We created a video using Animaker. Then, we uploaded that video to EdPuzzle and create an activity for our students. By using that activity, we can undertand that to what extend our students understood the lesson. We added this activitiy at the end of our video as a QR code. We recorded our voices and applied it to the video. Then, we shared it on Youtube. You can see our video here. Do not forget to scan the QR code and see our activity. We also created a lesson for our video ( You can see it here).  We had fun creating this video and I really think that it might be more beneficial than traditional learn at school practice at home method. However, there might be some problems with this flipped classroom model, In our activity we provided a QR code. Students may have troubles scanning it. To prevent it we also put the link in the description of the video. Other con of this method is that, some students may not have access to certain technology. If these problems can be solved, I think this method is very beneficial.

See you next time.

Your learning and teaching blogger,

İlayda.
